Ginger

Ginger contains the active ingredient, gingerol, which is a potent anti-inflammatory agent. Several animal studies have identified ginger as an androgenic compound with a cited increase of 17% in testosterone levels after ginger supplementation. It was found that improved testosterone production is because ginger was shown to be effective in decreasing SDF (sperm DNA Fragmentation). SDF is negatively correlated with testosterone levels. A study published in 2016 evaluated effects of 10 mg/kg/day of ginger extract for 6 weeks on endurance training. The study reported that training in combination with extract significantly increases testosterone and also significantly decreases cortisol (the stress hormone).

  • One of the traditional uses of ginger is for pain relief, including menstrual pain. But it may be the most effective when it comes to pregnancy-related nausea, such as morning sickness.
  • Ginger may also lower blood sugars and lower the risk of heart disease, ginger may have powerful anti-diabetic properties.
  • Scientific studies also showed reductions in total cholesterol and blood triglycerides.
  • There is also some evidence that ginger can enhance brain function directly.
